About This Event

Long before COVID-19 disrupted supply chains, forced store closures, and necessitated a massive shift to e-commerce, an undercurrent of trends in digital and the rise of direct-to-consumer brands have been altering the landscape of retail. For the fashion industry, this exposed long-standing vulnerabilities in an unsustainable calendar and an excess of merchandise that left brands fighting for market share with decreasing margins and cyclical promotions. And while it's clear digital native brands currently have the advantage, it's unclear how the DTC approach will sustain growth in a digitally dominant environment riddled with rapid shifts in consumer behavior.

In this session industry experts share strategies for retailers and brands to rediscover fundamentals aimed at moving at the speed of the consumer to not only maximize impact this upcoming holiday shopping season, but also to bolster lifetime customer value and long-term profitability. Some of the themes to be discussed include: strategies to sell excess inventory and save margins, striking the delicate balance between retention and acquisition to drive profits across digital marketing channels, and re-defining the purpose of physical stores.

About the Speakers

Sherene Hilal

Sherene Hilal is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations at Bluecore. In this role, Sherene leads the commercialization of products and business operations, with a focus on enterprise readiness. Previously, Sherene was the Vice President of Product Marketing at Curalate, a content intelligence platform that makes images shoppable. Prior to Curalate, she served as the Senior Director of Product Marketing & Pricing for BlueKai (and later Oracle, following the company’s acquisition), where she defined and developed the “Data as a Service” category.

Sherene holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Math and Systems from Columbia University and a B.S. in Applied Math from Cornell University.
